Best of 2014 Makeup - Face

Makeup.
Because what would be the point of this blog?

Hello beautiful people! If you've managed to stay with me for the past 9 months and have somehow chanced upon this post, you deserve a round of applause! Really, you do!

I'm a lazy pig. That's what.

So, in an effort to do the whole new year's resolutions thingy (I'm kidding, I never made any for this year), I have decided to blog again. Okay, so it's not because I resolved to blog more, as you all know, it is probably going to die off in a few months again (refer to previous post that was published way back in March 2014). Honestly, it's because 2014 has been probably my biggest and most fulfilling year yet. Sure, I've had a lot of ups and downs, experienced a whole lot more emotions, went through almost 5 months of internship already, got in touch with my more emotionally unstable side, met someone really special, gotten closer with my sister... You know, stuff. Some people say that by going through life we really grow up more when we reflect on what we have done, but I feel like I have so much more that I can do, so much more that I can become. I'm actually kinda glad that I'm never going to stop growing up. YAY

So why are grown ups grown up anyway? Aren't they still growing up?

Anyway, since this is MsFroufrou here and yours truly is all about the makeup, I decided to do the cliché and let you guys know my favourites for 2014. Why the hell not?

1. FACE (yeah, all that good stuff that makes your skin look good)

I have very oily skin that is caused by dry skin.

Confused?

Basically my skin is dry and that's why it produces more oil to make up for it. So while you'll find me prowling the racks for matte foundations and mattifying powders, I'll also be on the other side (at the skincare section) looking for hydrating lotions and serums and whatever works to hydrate my skin.

My foundation usually doesn't last me an hour because I get that oily when I go out. Most foundations look great on me because my pores aren't so huge to the point where I can't cover them up. My main issue with most foundations is that they leave my face feeling like a greasy frying pan. But then I found my answer in this tiny and expensive bottle. I swear, this foundation changed my life.

|M.A.C Matchmaster Foundation - Shade 1.5

It's not one of those foundations that you can just slap all and all will be fine in the world. It does need some work and a good primer to look good on my skin. I also really like how one pump dispenses the perfect amount for my entire face (1 layer of foundation, of course, the coverage is buildable if you layer on more).

Look, I really like the pump. I know it's the same design as the Fix+ pump or pretty much most M.A.C pumps. I just like it. Let me be. I LOVE IT. I really love the lock mechanism on it.

Onward!

I cannot skip primer. Face primers are something that's optional in most makeup face routines I feel. I just happen to be the kind of girl who NEEDS a primer. Without it, my foundation will just slide right off. Ugh, I do not want to go through my no primer days again. *SHUDDERS*

I've tried a bunch of primers, all from Smashbox to MUFE to Maybelline to just random brands at the departmental store. NOTHING beats this. I desperately need a third one already. :(

And no, it's not the Porefessional by Benefit.

L'Oreal Base Magique

This is the stuff. It makes my skin so smooth. It's so good, I sometimes just wear this alone on my face and head out (lazy days are no joke). It instantly makes my skin look like I just washed my face and stepped out of the shower. Makes my pores almost non-existent too. I can't live without this.

It's not greasy at all (ahem, Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser) even though it feels very emollient. It's very thick but it feels like on the skin, like second skin really. I swear, this stuff is confidence boost in a jar. A heavy, affordably priced jar.

Alright, this next thing I really don't know if it's still available anymore because I haven't seen this around. But I really want to mention it.

STORY TIME.

I got this loose powder because I chanced upon this brand and the items were all 50% off. So hey, I decided that I needed to replace my Sheene Choco Loose Powder (it smells good but it made me look like an oompa loompa). At that time I also had my Mario Badescu Healing Powder, which is still my holy grail, I like that one but I'm not putting it here because this is way more interesting.

So I saw this loose powder and I was like "Oh it's pink toned, great, suits my skin", so I picked it up because it was $10 after discount. I also bought a mascara for about that price from the same brand, but it was rubbish and dried out in 2 weeks. I only used it once.

So I got home, and being the excited makeup obsessed girl that I am, I opened it up to test it.

This was where I decided that I don't read product descriptions well enough.

IT FELT LIKE I WAS PLACING WATER ON MY SKIN.

Legit. I felt like I was washing my face at my sink. It felt so refreshing. Like a baby cupid sitting atop a plump watery but delightfully light cloud of fluffiness. Watery fluffiness. I don't know how that is possible, but trust me, it is.

Elite Models Mat & Fresh Loose Powder in - 01 Fresh Rose

I'm gonna type out the description that I missed when I was at the pharmacy.

"Unique water powder coding technology for a sensational fresh and moisturising effect. Ultra mat and translucent result."

Yepp. Now you know why it felt that way.

Granted, It does not have the best staying powder. But hey, it feels so amazing, it's an instant pick me up. If you get past the fact that it's a loose powder and only the most determined of girls would bring their powder brush out to touch up.

But hey, I feel good. Thus, it is good. Right?

Okay, I'm just going to list down the 2 items up next quickly because they're there for doing it's job pretty darn well and well, have nothing really to special about them. Other than the fact that they kicked my oily skin woes' ass well. Oh and my dark circles. BEGONE DARK PACTHES UNDER MY UNDEREYE.

Maybelline White Superfresh Compact Powder in 03 Natural

Stila Brighten & Correct Concealer
One thing about the concealer is that I don't feel like it corrects much of anything. But then again my dark eye circles don't need much correcting because they are not that bad yet. Yet.

It's pretty opaque for me and does a good job at concealing, but then again I have to remind you guys that my dark circles aren't too bad, so I don't need a super heavy duty concealer like my boi-ing concealer from Benefit. I mean, I like the boi-ing, it's kickass, but the stila concealer just takes the cake for my everyday concealer.

Love love love.

Alright that's the end of this post. Wow it's been almost a year now really. I should start blogging again. But internship just feels so tiring and all I want to do in my free time is eat and sleep.

Well 2014 has been a year full of love for me. <3

LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Never thought I'd see the day. :)

How was your 2014? I'd love to know. And please, don't hesitate to share your all time makeup favourites with me, I'm always on the hunt for new stuff. :D

It's almost bed time now, YAY, hope you people have a great Wednesday night and don't stay up too late. ;) There are still 2 more working days in the week.

Power to conquer the week! Bye!
